Dynamics 365 for Marketing is built on the same platform as Dynamics 365 for Sales, it is the natural option for customers to use to align their sales and marketing efforts. As with the other Dynamics business applications, this tool will work well for SMB’s who have outgrown smaller, disparate systems. Some of the main capabilities are below.
Dynamics 365 for Marketing highlights
Creation and distribution of email messages and online content
The graphical email creation interface is user-friendly with drag and drop controls. The emails are optimised for different clients and you can preview them on different devices and orientations before sending. Pages, forms and websites use the same editing controls.
Email campaigns can be personalised by dragging in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Marketing contact fields, such as the first name of the lead, or you can add more advanced logical processing, for example changing content dependent on the location of the recipient.
The interface and navigation provided are intuitive and similar to the other Dynamics business apps; which are just a click away.
Visual designer for Customer Journeys
Send your communications based on a customer journey – map touch points and actions on a canvas to decide who will receive your communications, what content needs to be sent, and when.
Rich integration with the Sales app
Have one view of the prospect by sharing information about Contacts, Leads and customers between the Sales and Marketing apps.
Organisation and publicising events
Kill two birds with one stone by planning your events in the Marketing app and publishing the details straight to a pre-configured customer-facing event portal.
By changing the publish status of your event plan, you can use the Dynamics 365 for Marketing portals’ capabilities to organise your information into a website for your customers to read about your event and register.
Lead scoring
Custom lead scoring models can be set up to add ‘points’ to the lead on various conditions, such as email clicks, event registration, website visits, etc. ‘Hot’ leads can be seen by salespeople in the Sales app and they can continue to nurture the lead to their opportunity process.
Marketing pages
You can set up Dynamics 365 for Marketing hosted web pages to use as landing pages, contact information, update pages, registration pages, subscription management etc. All information submitted through a marketing page is automatically captured by Dynamics 365 and applied immediately to your database.
Surveys
Dynamics’ ‘Voice of the Customer’ survey solution is integrated with the marketing app allowing users to create, distribute and analyse customer surveys.
Dashboards
As with other Dynamics business applications, you can see an overview of your marketing performance at a glance with charts, stats and activities on a dashboard.

Account-based marketing
B2B marketers can use the app to target each business account as a single unit. Account-based marketing scenarios enable sales and marketing to close more deals by targeting specific accounts – those most likely to generate large revenue.
Reusable content blocks
This feature enables users to define and store reusable blocks of content that are easy to add to email and page designs. For example, if you create a great header for a landing page, you can make it a standard design element by saving it as a reusable blog. You can protect some/all of a block’s content or design and restrict another user’s ability to edit them.
Social listening for campaigns
Social listening in the app lets marketers add relevant social tags to customer journeys, events, and other entities so they can view the social media response to their marketing initiatives. Combining analytics generated from social media platforms with traditional digital marketing like email and landing pages is a powerful method for modern marketers to obtain a comprehensive overview of their marketing impact.
Marketing calendar for planning
The marketing calendar control lets marketers visualise a variety of marketing activities with start/end dates. Marketers can view many elements of a campaign, such as events, on the same calendar providing an easy overview.
Richer segmentation experience
The improved segment designer enables marketers and business analysts to create segments more easily and efficiently.
